Tantivy Blue Coach Tours is the largest luxury coach and tour operator in the Channel Islands. The tradition and style of Tantivy Blue Coach Tours, coupled with the experience of its management team, creates a benchmark against which all coach companies should be measured.

The Tantivy story began over 100 years with an enterprising young man named Arthur Pitcher. Armed with a single horse and cart Arthur decided to expand his carting business to offer organized outings and excursions. Slowly but surely Arthur expanded his business and eventually began a horse bus service that ran to the north-west of the island. It wasn't until 1923 that Tantivy actually acquired various motor charabancs for the business.

With the influx of German troops during the Second Word War, public transport was limited and later Tantivy was granted a single route. Lack of petrol during the war was still not enough to halt Tantivy from providing a public service as, bus's were converted to run on anthracite or charcoal to reach their destinations

After losing a good number of vehicles to the Germans, in March 1949 Arthur Pitcher's Tantivy's bus service was taken over by JMT. The Pitcher Family retained their fleet of coaches and taxis which were augmented with substantial purchases of second-hand coaches. In 1975, Tantitvy was taken over by the Lewis family who through the JMT already owned Rover Tours, Blue Eagle, Red Line and Silver Line.

During the early 1990's the number of tourists to the Island fell quite significantly which with the recession and difficulty of finding companies that would build coaches to satisfy the Islands stringent road restrictions caused severe problems.

They bought Mascot Motor and Holiday Tours in 1993 and, in 1996, Blue Coach Tours - the second largest company and their main competitors joined the group.

Today Tantivy Blue Coach Tours is Jersey's largest coach company with 60 coaches and 20 minibuses. The company handles over 80% of the holiday market offering the best possible service for the present and the future.
